Selling and Earnings

When your item sells​

  1. The buyer's money is taken and they receive the item
  2. A sold entry appears in your My Listings, holding the earnings for that sale. The amount is the full price, in the listing's currency. Tax is charged once, when the listing is created, and nothing is taken from a sale (how the tax works)
  3. If you are online you are told straight away, through the methods in notifications.methods (chat and/or action bar) with the notification sound
  4. You claim the money whenever you like

The money is not paid into your balance until you claim it (or it is claimed for you, see below).

Claiming​

auto-claim-earnings is off by default, so earnings wait for the seller to collect them.

Earnings are safe​

  • A claim is recorded first and then paid, so a sale can never be paid twice, even if two clicks or two claim requests overlap
  • If the economy refuses the payment, the claim is undone and you are told to try again. The earnings stay available; nothing is lost
  • Earnings do not expire. They wait indefinitely unless you set purge-after-days (see Expiry)

While you were away​

When you join, one message summarises what is waiting: how many sold entries and how many expired listings are still there to collect. It includes a clickable button that opens My Listings.

  • notify-on-join turns the sold-items part of the message on or off
  • notify-expired-on-join does the same for expired listings

These two settings only control the message. Auto-claiming earnings and returning expired items happen either way.

Statistics​

The statistics button in the main auction shows your live listings, expired listings, unclaimed sales, number of sales, total earned and your tax rate.

Server listings​

Listings created by the server (the Random Auction add-on, or /auction admin sell) have no seller. Buying one removes the money from the economy and creates no earnings.

Records and alerts​

  • transaction-logging writes listings, sales and removals to transactions-auction.log (off by default)
  • discord-webhook posts embeds for new, sold, expired and removed listings (off by default; templates in webhook-auction.yml)
